Welcome to the first installment of LOLA After dark. Every so often in my travels I find myself in crazy situations that well what can I do but share them with you so you can (or not) do the same. Life is to be lived so go get yours.
While in Tokyo, I heard about "love hotels" and was like WTF are those. Apparently "love hotels" are very well known and accepted in Tokyo because many Japanese live with their parents well into their 30's and 40's. You can only enter one with a member of the opposite sex. Since I was traveling alone I knew that the odds of me getting into one was next to nil, but for my audience I would do what I need to do. So guys I did this for YOU...you're welcome.
Love hotels go from the seedy, and anime crazy rooms covered in dolphins and dildos to the subtle and classy room with colored lights and crazy beds. Upon entry to the hotel, it looked like a typical 4 star hotel, however there is no front desk. Just a person behind a desk ensuring that couples ONLY enter. Then you walk to a wall and it has pics of rooms and the cost for an hour. I took a pic but had to be undercover and it turned out really poorly...but NEXT time. LOL!
The room itself was VERY sparkly...almost blindingly so:
1st up: The hallway...very simple and nondescript.
The room itself at first just seems like a normal hotel room, granted it had colored lights, a crazy sound system and what I would estimate the size of the television to be 60 or 72 inches that plays "movies" if that is your thing. I figure no need to take a picture of that....you get the idea.
I've heard there are even strange and odd themed hotels. Is this true? Do YOU know? If so I'd love to hear from you. Please share your after dark adventures. Who knows, you may give me a new idea to try when I go to a new city.
LOLA Afterdark...Sssshh, it's a secret.
